MCEPC Annual Seminar: "Blending and Braiding Legal, Financial and Government Services to Sustain Access to Services, Community and Work for a Lifetime" followed by reception 4:30-5:30pm

We hope you can join us for this exciting presentation! Our annual seminar will be from 1pm to 4:30pm followed by a reception from 4:30 to 5:30pm.
This presentation is centered on how to blend and braid legal, financial and government services to sustain access to services, community and work for a lifetime.
Helping families understand how they can utilize SSI/SSDI/Medicare/Medicaid and be able to work to create a full life. The importance of applying for benefits between 18 -22 years old. How Power of Attorney and Guardianship are seen by employers, health professionals and government entities (Police & Fire). The pitfalls of having funds in the person's name. When people with disabilities work and take advantage of Employer Sponsor Programs with assets can negatively impact approval for benefits, particularly services within the Commonwealth.
Understanding how to utilize a special needs trust. Create holistic and implement Person Centered Planning prior to death. It's about the importance of creating support by creating a budget for now and later. So many are just thinking of Life Insurance as the band aid and not thinking of accessing housing and other things that are needed for services that are only available based on diagnosis being prior to age 22 including SSDI Childhood Disability Benefits and waivers. Parents often overlook their own retirement income stream and how that will impact the financial security of themselves and their adult children with disabilities especially when parents’ health is declining and need caretaking or nursing home care. The assumption of siblings taken over care is not always realistic or fair.
We will cover real life examples of the impact of living through adulthood with a disability and how planning and putting that plan in action can give real relief while vastly improving the family’s overall quality of life.
